Queen holds a Masters of Business Administration (MBA), Bachelor of Technology and National Diploma in Cost and Management Accounting. She is currently registered for her Doctoral Degree with the University of Limpopo with the title: “Assessment of Financial and Governance Performance Disclosure in South African Higher Education and Training Institutions” to be completed in  2018. Queen is the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of African Higher Education and Training Academy (PTY) Ltd.

Her role is to make a positive contribution to ensure the financial viability and sustainability of the AHETA through sound financial governance and to provide excellent value for money support in ensuring economic, efficient and effective financial resource management. Queen has over 17 years of working experience including serving as Director of Management Accounting, Contract and Revenue Management at the University of Limpopo for seven years since January 2010; Deputy Director Management Accounting at the Department of water Affairs for two years; Cost Accountant in Coris Capital for Two years and Lecturer in Tshwane University of Technology for six years (2001 to 2006).

During these period Queen has developed an excellent, strong and compelling competencies leading to her being appointed for 1st and now 2nd term in the Council Finance Committee of Tshwane University of Technology. Queen exhibit the following competencies:

  • Reviewing and monitoring the University’s performance against financial benchmarks established by Council.
  • Review the annual financial statements of the University in conjunction with the Audit and Risk Committee, ensuring that meets the requirement of IFRS and is drafted in accordance with the DHET regulations and make recommendations to Council.
  • Receive and consider budget proposals from the Executive Management Committee and recommend to Council the annual university budget in accordance with the DHET regulations and other relevant regulations, policy and procedures.
  • Regularly review financial reports and, where appropriate, provide advice to Executive Management and Council on the implications of it.
  • Make appropriate recommendations to Executive Management and Council on any matters having a significant financial impact on the University.
  • Consider matters of financial strategy and policy, including supply chain management, risk management, investments and insurances, as they relate to the operation of the University, in particularly ensuring optimum use of available and potential financial resources (including internal investment options and their rate of return).
  • Advise Executive Management and Council on the short, medium and long term financial implications of the University’s Plans.
  • Advise Executive Management and Council in relation to the capital program and monitor the progress of major capital projects. And finally,
  • She advices Executive Management and Council in relation to:
    • the extent and adequacy of the University’s insurance coverage (at least annually)
    • the Treasury Management Policy of the University
    • the University’s borrowing program (on a regular basis)
    • Any contracts requiring Council approval.
